I am a German painter, born and raised in Stuttgart. I graduated from the Merz Akademie for Art and Graphic Design in Stuttgart in 1987, and went on to work as a graphic designer in the United States, for several years. In 1990 I started a family. A few years later we embarked on a series of exciting adventures. My husband, my three children and I traveled around the world, living in Switzerland, Taiwan, South Korea and Canada. Currently, I am living back in the United States, calling Chapel Hill, North Carolina home. I consider myself very fortunate to have had the opportunity to live in different countries and cultures. These experiences have greatly influenced and inspired my work. As a visually-oriented person, I found art to be a great key into the soul of a place, as well as a view into its past. We are all products of our collective pasts and cultures. With my work I have been visually ‘digesting’ and reflecting on my experiences in these very different places. My work is therefore an expression of myself, as well as the places I have been.

Ever since I can remember, I have had a certain fascination with color. Therefore, not surprisingly, color is the most dominant force in my mostly abstract paintings. I use textured under-paintings and then often many layers of translucent color to achieve the result I am looking for. My work is also influenced by artists I admire, such as Monet, Paul Klee, Cy Twombly and Gerhart Richter.

My work has been exhibited in a number of solo and group exhibitions in Bern, Switzerland.
